Soy Wax Candles
Updated: Jan 27
soy wax is a 100%-natural and vegan wax used for candle-making. It is made from soybeans and is perfect for making container candles. WHAT IS SOY WAX MADE OF?
Soy wax is made from hydrogenated soybean oil and is available in various forms (like soy wax flakes). It is often considered more environmentally friendly compared to traditional paraffin wax. THE SPECIFICS OF SOY WAX Texture: quite soft and pliable. Colour: opaque white/beige. Melting temperature: between 70 to 90 °C (160 to 200 °F). Scent: natural/forest-like. MAKING CANDLES WITH SOY WAX Making Soy wax candles is much more natural than with paraffin wax, and is still significantly cheaper than beeswax. A soy candle burns slower and cleaner (less soot) than some of the other waxes. Soy wax holds fragrances really well, so you can create amazing smelling scented candles with this wax. However, colouring soy wax is a bit different to paraffin or beeswax. Pigments won’t dissolve in soy and will create more pastel colours. Soy wax is also quite soft and pliable : it is softer than paraffin wax and with a lower melting temperature. It means it is better to use soy wax to make container candles!
